hello i bought this 10an 17j Unknown model a few days ago...I think it maybe a Galdiator, without the gold on the engravings...It might has rubbed off or wasn't add in the first place...this watch is keeping great time for its age an lack of cleaning..losing on one minute in about 20hours...here are the pics..Next time i add a watch i now know complete where what to do and where to start...i will add two more very soon...
We have one 1930 ad for the Gladiator & two authenticated examples in the database dated 1930. Current information indicates that the Gladiator was produced for only ony year in 1930. You didn't list the movement symbol in the above description, please list movement symbol as a double-check on the movement date. 1926 does not compute. I hope I'm wrong!
616384 is the ss number on the actual movement....i got a closer look at the symbol with as the best i can tell does look like the omega symbol for 1930...Some of the case is covering very little of the symbol itself but that is the closest symbol i think is..The symbol it could be is the one for 1940, they look very much the same...but i don't think the watch is that new...its definitly more art deco and 1920s styling....I wasnt sure of the year so i took a guess and i was wrong, after now seeing the symbol it is a 1930....the other question now i have is about the gold that the other examples of the galdiators have on the engravings...could it just be a fully white gold filled case? There is no evidence that any yellow gold was there...usally there would still be atleast some on either side and there isn't...I mean what are the chances it came off on both sides completely?? Since there is a diference between the other examples, does the watch have a different name??? The back Does say The Great Dane... i know that isn't any help but just in case someone was wondering and couldn't see it...like i said before thats a cool nick name must have been a big guy or as a joke to a small man...Its always interesting to see the inscriptions on these watches and this one is the most different than the others watches with inscriptions i have had....
