In reply to Jeff - this is very by Geoff Baker
I am not sure when THAT began Geoff. The above case list is from a 1979 Bulova case parts catalog. I have earlier issues - 1971, 1974 - that don't include such a list.
I have seen MANY replica (fake) watches over the years, including OMEGA, ROLEX, BREITLING, and yes...even some Bulovas. NONE of them are executed as well as the subject watch in this post. Even the BEST Rolex fakes I've foound to have cheap Chinese automatic movements in the....nothing near the quality of these Swiss Eta Autos.
Jose, what is the number located on the inside case back (right below the words BULOVA)?
It looks like 12080 or 12060.
Would this be the case reference number (which may occur in the last page of a 1979 ABC Case Parts Catalog (Supplement #1) TimeRestoration provide just above?
Markings, it's the case and movement markings that determine the authenticity of this style watch. There are several sellers in Hong Kong that have been dealing these watches as New Old Stock for years, far too many it seems for them to be authentic. My watch has a movement marked ETA, like this one, while I can't see the date code on this watch mine is P7 (1987). The only case date is on the inside case back, like this and is 1979. I'll never be sure that mine isn't fake. I do believe that mine ( and all others) are non-conforming at a minimum. I think the movements are genuine, the case seems to be genuine but the 8 year spread between the date codes make it N/C.
I'm sticking with Non-Conforming.
