Bulova 1979 Accutron Quartz

Watch Description

I am trying to find out any information possible about this time piece. I know what it is, who it was made for and when but that is all.

I was told there were approximately 10 of these made for certain employees of Schwepps.

Obviously being quite a rare watch but rare not always meaning its valubale, I would like to get some idea of the value for insurance purposes.

I didn't buy the watch for value, I actually bought it cause I love Bulova's ,it is a reminder of my childhood and the biggest part is my name is Rondo. Which is a difficult name to fine on anything. LOL.

I am by far no expert. I buy watches for the beauty of the piece. So my knowledge is very, very limited.

I don't know the movement etc. cause I don't want to risk trying to open the back. From what I can tell, the back is not marred so I don't believe anyone has tried opening it. Funny things is the watch runs and it runs strong.

It is an Accutron Quartz, it is stamped 10 R.G.P. on the back along with the date stamp N9.

Oh I also have the Owner's guide - Book NO.2, this was revised in 9/81 so not sure if original. However I did get the watch from the Schwepps employee it was made for and he said everything I have with the watch is everything he got when he received it.

The second photo is of a number which is on the side of the original secondary box.

The case musta been opened to change the battery if it's still running today.  Can you add pictures of the entire front/back of the watch?  That will help.  I'm gonna update some of the fields as eneterd until you find that info- if ever.

Hi Will  am going to try to get more pics. It's difficult cause I have high quality cam even on my phone so trying to get down from a 3mb pic to 150kb isn't that easy.

I had the same thought as well about the battery but the original owner barely wore the watch to begin with. The watch band is virtually brand new.

Ok Will. I hope these work. On pic 5, picture of the back. You will see a few nicks right at the top of the back. I accidentally did that when I was going to try to get the back off for movent and serial info. Opps.

No, not Accuquartz but plain old quartz movement. No tuning fork watches produced after 1977! Since the days of the tuning fork Accutrons, Bulova has continued to trade on the Accutron name on its watches.

aha that's right. the accuquartz was a not made after '77.  Thanks  It says quartz on dial too.
I'm going w/ the choice below: 
1979 Accutron Quartz   - but the only thing Accutron about this is the name and tuning fork Logo :(
EDIT:...and the tuning fork Logo is only on the display box...

Tuning fork logo is also stamped on the inside of the watch band. :)

Thanks Oliverb. That confirms what I have found from my research so far. On this paticular one, the only place the tuning fork logo shows is stamped on the inside of the watch band.

I found one which is similar in style on E-bay, one made for a different company but very similar.

Again I love this watch for what it is not for money but it seems a little bit low, don't you think for this one on ebay being brand new? $129.00?

Like I believe, the one I have, there were only 10 made.

I guess I will find out soon enough. I finally got through to Bulova and sent them everything. They are supposed to get back to me with the details and info on the watch but who knows how long that will take.

Make sure and let us all know what Bulova advise.

Tis probably just had a model number but the generic "Quartz" would work for me as this is getting the the end of era that myBulova covers (1980).

Part of Bulova's Corporate line of watches, and still very much alive today. I am in negotiations to become a Bulova dealer, although I will only be doing corporate watches, and mostly Bulova clocks. Bulova also owns Wittnauer, and at the moment the only place you can buy a new Wittnauer is as a Corporate logo watch.
