Here is a fun one and as you know I fall for the custom printed or engraved Bulova's. Clearly a 1973 Bulova President "B" but with a custom dial from the Bulova awards division. The dial is printed VALLEY #1 over silhouette of the State of NJ with the date 1973 G.N.T. State Champs then BULOVA. Based on research this is the Greater Newark Tournament for high school baseball teams in Essex County NJ. The first year was 1969 but this was for the 1973 event and was won by Lady of the Valley HS hence VALLEY on the dial.
The watch has a stainless case with an N3 date code. The dial is white and does appear to be what would have been on a factory President B but with Bulova dropped to the bottom for the custom printing. Has a 23J 11AOACB movement with a replaced N2 rotor (missing when arrived) as that was the only spare I had. Runs great. Originally these came on a gray strap so I but it on this old junker strap I had for the time being. ID is from the 1973 Linebook BAWD00180.
Love the dial. Interesting that red was chosen for the important text to match the original dial layout with red at indices. Also noted is the precise spacing of "Valley" letters to correspond with minutes track. Special order dial that really shows the Bulova attention to detail that makes for a quality watch. I agree, it's a
1973 President "B"
with custom Bulova produced special order dial.
Congrats on another nice and unique addition to your collection! Great research as well.
