I am not qualified to open the case so I don't have any inside information. The date code on the back indicates 1973. Can someone tell me what model it is? Thanks in advance.

It appears to be an accutron date 218 model.

Did I get the case shape correct? I have no background in watches.

Hello rdone, welcome to myBulova. Yes, we would refer to this as a cushion case. Bulova used three basic movements in Accutron watches, yours is a 218 movement, often presented with the crown at the four o'clock position as opposed to the three o'clock placement. Some watches show the date and day, we call them day/date models. A watch showing just the date is referred to as a 'calendar' watch.

I've looked through our adverts and didn't find an exact match to your watch. I suggest we call this an 'Accutron Calendar" model. Thanks for sharing it with us.
