Watch Description

Hello everyone, excited to join the forum as this is my first post.  Came by this relatively fresh 1970 Deep Sea Chronograph B recently and had to buy it.  Sits well on the wrist, case/movement are almost NOS and it keeps good time.  Big fan of the venerable Valjoux 7733.  Could use the forum's help on two items - the majority of the watch is orginal, from what I can tell, other than the crown and maybe the hour/minute hands. 1) Does the forum know the part number for the correct crown?  I've looked online and on eBay and there are a couple people sellling NOS crowns.  Hoping to buy a replacement crown with the appropriate Bulova signature. 2) The hour and minute hands are driving me crazy.  From what I can tell based on other examples of the Deep Sea B mine might be replacements, but I cannot confirm.  Based on some old adverts however, these seem to be the original hands.  If anyone has thoughts on this, please let me know.  The patina has aged to the same shade as the hour indicators, so I'm inclined to think that the hands are at the very least NOS replacements from the same time-period. Thanks for all the help and look forward to continued discussions.

Regards, SeaSubRod

Hands look right to me, the crown looks a tad high, I'm not sure if they were signed at this point.

A watch in excellent shape, probably didn't see much wrist time.

Deep Sea Chrono 'B' she be.

Hello Rod, welcome to myBulova. This is a really nice watch. Bulova made some amazing Chronograph watches in the early 1970's and this is one of the most distinctive. It's usually the bezel that goes bad on these watches as they're worn and age, this one looks to be in excellent condition. I think it's all original with the exception of the crown and the strap. I do not have a parts list for this watch, perhaps someone else does. The original crown was signed 'Bulova'.

I have six or seven Bulova Chronographs from the 1970's, I think all but one has the 7733 Valjoux movement.

Thanks everyone.  I agree that the crown is most likely a replacement.  The hunt for the proper signed crown continues.  If anyone has contacts that might be helpful, feel free to PM me.

Just to confirm, the model number for this watch is 31003?  Hoping to find an interchangeable parts number list, which this site seems to have for older Bulova models.  Cheers.

I have the same watch and my crown has the Accutron symbol. My watch repairman said it may be original. Be interested to see what you think.
