Watch Description

This is an award watch from 1970 for the Bridgewater – Raritan (New Jersey) High School Football State Champion which had a 9-0 undefeated season.   The watch appears to be a 1970 Bulova Clipper.  It has a yellow gold plated case and the dial has been customized.  It has a painted Minute Man along with "BULOVA  MINUTE MEN STATE 9-0 CHAMPIONS 1970".  The stainless steel case back has an N0 date code and is engraved with the player J.C. Wilson.  The movement is aN 11ANACB automatic.  The engraving is partially obscuring the middle digit of the serial number.  Really engraver you had one job, just do it from side to side.  It is in really nice condition.

This is from the 1971 Line Book.   The variant here is the stainless version.   Not sure of the yellow gold variant.

That is a really cool award watch.  I would agree with Clipper.

Really cool dial. Note how the BULOVA is located higher than normal to allow for the MINUTE MAN

LOL, love the comment about the engraver.....spot on!

Anyone care to explain to an Aussie the Minute Man reference?

Stephen - here's a good explanation for you - "Minutemen were civilian colonists who independently organized to form well-prepared militia companies self-trained in weaponry, tactics, and military strategies from the American colonial partisan militia during the American Revolutionary War"

In the case of this particular watch the team mascot of the football (American) team is the "Minute Men" I would think to give honor to the the revolutionists mentioned above. Yeah, about that engraver.....

Possible 1970 Bulova Clipper based on the advert being for a Stainless watch (I wonder why the Minute Men didn't choose the Minute MAN Bulova model?)

Minutemen were known for being ready to fight at a minute's notice, hence the name.

1970 Clipper seems to be a good call - variant unknown

I was able to figure out the serial number.  It is H644372.  I would appreciate if you could update it.  Thank you.
