This is a modern quartz being used in place of a tuning fork movt. The ISA 1198 was the only quartz movt that would swap into an accutron tuning fork movt, but sadly, they are no longer made in the 'date at 4' configuration. This requires either the relocation of the dial feet, or dial mounting using adhesive. In the case of adhesive, the original dial feet are broken off. Adhesive dial mounting is far less than ideal unfortunately, and causes issues down the road.

This particular ISA movt is 'date at 3', it is rotated to accomodate the crown position of the accutron case, which tells me that the dial has been modded in one of the ways mentioned above.

Hi Joel -- welcome to myBulova. What Rev Rob is saying is that at some point your grandfather had the original Accutron movement replaced with a newer (at the time) quartz movement. As the Accutron movements were increasingly difficult to repair and find replacement parts for this was a common practice. It wouldn't surprise me to know that the swap was done at the authorized Bulova repair facility.

The GOOD NEWS is that you have a precious keepsake of your grandfather, congratulations! We'll try to find an advert match to give you some idea of the model number and perhaps showing the original sales price.

Welcome to myBulova!  Congrats on this wonderful heirloom of your grandfather's watch.

You have a Bulova Accutron with a replacement movement.  As Geoff said we will try and find an ad match.  This time period is a bit more challenging than earlier decades.
