It's not a refinished dial - it's a NOS case, dial and hands. The "17" date is a taped piece of paper on the back of the dial from the factory. The dial is coded on the back by Bulova, "0-5-7 TRI" This ID is from only one ad from 1966....mine is dated 1967. I guarentee there are different movements listed in the Case Parts book for this watch case (if I could find out the four digit code on the other) which would bonafide my case. Whether its a President model variant or not - I don't know - but what else could it be? The cases and dials are exact matches in every way except 23J v 30J. I've posted photos. Rob

Nice one Rob, Post them both as unknown for now so they are in the database, you never know when a ad might surface, and they will be hard to find again here on Gary's posted watch.

I do like those dials...they are real classy looking with the center stripe and date window.

To bad we don't have more late 60's ad's, could be just about anything the way Bulova changed models...Regetta, Commander, President, Ambassador variants? Who knows untill a ad surfaces.

It's surprising what $15 will buy you these days....

Now, the question is: Is this yet another 1966 President 30J Case #2525? Same Bezel as the other, but yet another dial variant with the cool-looking date at 4 o'clock - yet not in the "ad." Another recent purchase. Great condition. Rob

Interesting how the date is located at the 4 o'clock position and not the standard 3 o'clock position.

Further....the watch that started this says 10COAC....shouldn't it be a 10COACD movement to run the date? Either it's the wrong movement or the wrong auto-wind-weight!! The Bulova Case Parts Catalog from 1974 says that case #2525 (Yellow) should be 10COACD or 10CPACD!!  FRANKENBUL??

10 COACD has the Date complication. 10 CO Automatic Center seconds Date.

Nice catch, the weight has to have been swapped as the subject Watch is showing the Date indicator.

Your N.O.S would be a 'REGATTA 23' if anything an not the 'PRESIDENT' as the 'PRESIDENT' was 30 Jewels..., we've had that discussion.

You're lucky I didn't send the reply I wrote and using better judegement deleted. Your italicized comment is both rude and condesending. Who's "We've?" FYI Regetta 23's DON'T have a date. Even a blind man could see you're wrong. The "President" may have been 30J in 1966, but it could have been 23J in 1967! It's the same case, dial, and hands! And no comment on my 30J watch posted? It's not in the "AD" either....I gues it must me something else too then? Geez Sherlock!

This must be My lucky Day? - The comment was not intended to be rude nor condesending but I find Your response very and add hostile to that list. A discussion of similarly Cased Models with differing Movements has been had in a prior thread.

My reference to the 'REGATTA 23' was a helping Hand (the last) to aid in an ID, do You know for a fact that the Watch did not come with a Date complication option, Holmes?

The 'PRESIDENT' was not a 23 Jewel automatic w/Date in 1967.

get a grip.

You're the "Expert." I don't know that the Regatta 23 came with a date option anymore then you know if there was a 23J President in 1967. Further, a search for a thread on Regatta 23 did not turn up anything as you mentioned....but  as the Talking Heads said, "Say something once, why say it again?" The problem with the site is there are too many competing "experts" arguing over ads and ID and too few gentlemen using common sense and commenting and actually helping  like Admin, Old Ticker, and Rev Rob.
