Wayne,

Can We confirm the 1964 date for the 'DATE KING' ad?

 "new design" 'PRESIDENT' (ad dated 1964) possibly replaced the 'DATE KING model..?

I placed the original ad and can confirm that it is from 1964.

So, one can assume from this that the 30 Jewel 'DATE KING' was re-badged to 'PRESIDENT' in 1964.

Both ads are 1964, but in 65' we have the "Commander" 30J

Bulova must have been full of names for 30J watches during that time.

The pointed markers at the 12,6,9 looks more like a "Date King" dial than a "President" dial.

Date King "H" has a 14K case so it might be another letter model.

Good eye Wayne!

'COMMANDER' had Date display Ticker?

My hunch says 'PRESIDENT' replaced 'DATE KING' in '64 as the ad states 'new', which would make more sense.

Anyone see a 'DATE KING' after 1964?

What are we basing the President ID on?

From what I see (other than the gold content, which I don't think is an issue) the case, movement, dial and hands look identical to the Date King.

The 1964 ad for the 'PRESIDENT' states "new date design" which would lead one to believe the 'DATE KING was replaced by the 'PRESIDENT' in 1964;

At least to Me it does..a new model usually replaces an old model.
