Watch Description

I am currently unable to get this watch open to look at the movement.  it is an automatic, as it started running after I was fumbling around with the watch.  This piece was inherited and was untouched since the 70s. Case back says "water proof, BULOVA, anti-magnetic, shock resistant, 10KT rolled gold plate". Looking to figure out what model it is.  "M4" on the back gave me the 1964 year.  Haven't seen any other examples of this on the internet.

Possibly a variant of the Bulova 'Spokesman'

Knowing the jewel count would certainly help, although it's probably 17 Jewels.

any idea how to get it open?  There is no indent on the case back from which to pry.

If it is a pop off there will be a small gap on the edge somewhere. If you cannot see any gap then chances are it's a screw down. Try anti-clockwise to screw off. If you have a racketball or a large rubber ball of sorts they can sometimes help give you enough grip to rotate the backcase.

If the back case however looks solid the it may be a front bezel remove, which is typically a screw down.

case back doesn't seem to rotate, and the bezel appears fixed.  there is a seam around the caseback but no indent/gap for a pry location.

I saw mention online that maybe the entire crystal and everything pushes out?  But being water-proof this seems unlikely to me.

Another option for this model might be from one of the "Clipper" models.

Ah ok I 'think' I found it. A Bulova Sea King. 3rd from the left. Band is a match.

interesting.  could be.  says "stainless steel back" and this caseback is gold.  maybe there were variants.

I'm at Unknown on this one. Looked through the ads and did not find anything. Could certainly be a Sea King, since they were waterproof and typically manual-winding.

I'm not sure. This one looks a lot like the Sea King in the advert but that case back is throwing me off. I think I'm drifting toward Unknown too. The dial seems distinctive enough that it should be easy but I can't find a good match either. I'm anxious to see the movement, it might help.
