Looking to have this watch model identified. The case is stainless steel, marked M3, Waterproof, Anti-Magnetic, Shock Resistant. It is mostly polished SS with a brushed strip around the mid section. Crown is marked Bulova. The movement is marked 11AFC, 17 Jewels, M2 year, Manual Wind. The dial is white, marked Bulova and Waterproof, with chrome markers and luminous dots, it has even numbers and markers at the odd. The hands are also luminous. It has a replacement Bulova black leather band.
The only advertisement that looks similar is a '61 Sea King "B". When a watch has two different date codes, what year is it identified as? This one has M2 movement and M3 case.
-watch has a new owner 5/2014
I would say you nailed it Ken - Sea King "B" it is. Good find on the ad, great looking watch.
Regarding the two date codes. When they're within a year we generally accept the latest. The assumption being that this watch was assembled early in the year using a movement from late '62 and a case from early '63. The same would be true if the case was '62 and the movement was '63. When the gap is greater than a year a movement replacement is more likely.
