Watch Description

A 1963 Bulova wristwatch. A silvered dial with steel batons and a date aperture to 3 o'clock. A stainless steel case with unusual 'bombe' shaped lugs, with original winding crown. A 17 jewel manual wind caliber 11 ALCD mechanism signed Bulova. This watch comes complete with its original Bulova box. Case reference code dates this watch to 1973. Case width 35mm. The photos and above text are from a website. The watch was bought for me as a present, im trying to find out the watches name and confirm its date, it seems 1963 and 1973 are conflicting each other.

It's unusual to see a 10 year span between the movement and case date code. Is it possible to add a photo of the back of the watch?

Are there any markings on the inside case back? If not the case may aftermarket. Not sure if movement date code is M3 or M5.

Almost looks like that case was polished hard... Be curious to see inside.

Curious that the case back bears no stamped info.  I need more info once watch is "in hand" (interior case markings and movement date verification) to render an opinion.

Totally agree with all comments, thanks for that. The over polished back I think is true, if you look closely bottom of photo there is definetly what looks like a chevron left from some kind of mark.

I have just ordered a tool to remove the back so will update with more pictures.

I just hope the over polishing is not due to foul play 😐

Cheers kev.

The movement appears to lack an import code, so that points me in the direction of this being an International model.

I found one match in the 1966 linebook, with one dial mark (Waterproof) missing on subject watch.

This case style is also similar to the Astrojet model.

Wow - good find Ken, I think this is it, the lugs are a match too. I'm thinking 1963 International with a donor movement. Classy looking watch

Agree stylistically this looks to be the international model in the linebook and love the twisting bevel on the lugs.   I am not sure how the 1963 date was determined.   Are we dating watches based on the case reference number?   Makes we wonder if this is in fact a 1973 movement and case with the date code polished off.  Pending clarification on the date I am good with Bulova International Model #511219.

The movement is not from the 70s; if it were, it would be gold color. It looks to be M3 or M5. Case datestamp may be on the inside of the back.
