Heirloom from my grandfather. Case back was coming off so opened it up. He said it came with a gold band. Trying to figure out what model.. guessing it is a 1960 from the codes?

Both case and movement are correct for 1960.

Welcome to mybulova. Heirloom watches are the best! Congrats on having this nice remembrance of your Grandfather.

So great you have your Grandfathers watch.  I bet under the scratched crystal is a really great looking dial.

I'm thrilled he let me have it! Actually had his 85th birthday today!

Some areas are a little oxidized.. bezel at 3 o'clock.. under case back near crown, etc.

I brought it to Bromberg jewelers and one of two watch makers quoted over four figures to clean it up but still retain the patina! He recommended to do nothing, but he would clean it up more around the movement and crown without disassembly.

Hi Joseph - four figures sound too high. Depending on where you live you can probably have it done for much less. If you want to honor your grandfather by wearing it, I recommend a new crystal and a cleaning by a professional watchmaker. Perhaps we can help?
