Watch Description

Here is a first for the database.  1959 Bulova Jaguar.   I ID'd this model about a year ago from a dial and movement I had which I confirmed with this ad.  It is a Solid 14KT Gold case with an L9 date code.  The movement is an 11AF with 17 Jewels and an N0 date code.  Looks to have had the movement replaced at some point.  The bracelet is gold filled capped and is engraved with the initials JAG on the clasp.    I found it buried in a lot of 12 Bulova's and it was not noted as being gold.  Based on my research I knew I had to win this one so I could add it to our MyBulova Database.

Wow, outstanding score. Congrats on adding it to your collection.  As per ad and previous conversations we have had about this model

1959 Jaguar, noting replaced movement or parts thereof.

Nice to finally see one "in the metal". Now it just needs a nice alligator grain leather strap!

Very nice find; this is a very nice design.

Movement is likely fine, as we have seen many of these 11AF series dated N0 instead of M0; which if a real N0 would be gold color.

Thanks!  The extra dial and movement I have has an L9 date code.  I was going to swap out the dial and movement but I think I will leave it as is.  This dial and movement are in a little better condition than my spare.  I put it on an alligator grain strap as requested and it is soon much better.

Good point Ken. if the watch is a 1959, and the movement is mis-stamped and a 1960 as we have previously discussed, all is well and it's likely the original.

Nice band choice, Jim   =o)

N0 is 1970.  This is an 11 year jump in movement codes.   L9 to N0 not M0.   Clearly a replaced movement.  I am going to replace the N0 movement with the L9 one I have.  Thank you all.  Glad to have it.

We ascertained a while ago based on multiple watches in the database with this combination of case/movement dates that this particular movement (11AF) seemed to have a number of them stamped N0 instead of M0 in 1960. There is a good chance that the movement is actually a mis-stamped 1960.

Found the variant  in the 1960 Linebook BAWB0139

1959 Bulova Jaguar "A".   It should be noted Jaguar B is a different case altogether.
