Watch Description

Case is gold filled.   Case, movement, and bracelet all in pristine condition.  Disassembled, cleaned, and oiled by me (as I do with all my used watches, since "serviced" on the Internet nowadays seems to mean, "I dipped the movement into some lighter fluid and called it good".) Will get around to regulating it, but for now it runs +36S/Day. Only issue as that the cannon pinion seems to be a little tight, so setting the watch takes more "effort" than it should. Band is gold filled with (real) alligator trim. Beautiful watch! (Why don't they make expansion bands like this nowadays??) Appears to be the "F" variant.

Welcome to myBulova!  What a wonderful package with the original band and box!  I would agree with His Excellency "F" like this one https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1958-his-excellency-6388  It would be nice to find this ad to have a clear copy.  Beautiful watch, thanks for sharing it.

Welcome to myBulova cottersay. I'm blown away by this watch. Sometime I think the dial makes the watch, sometime the lug but on this beauty it's that band - wow! The case is very unique ( I love it) the dial is unusual (yup, love that too) but add the band, oh my. Every now and then I see these leather insert bands on the 1950 23's and His Excellency's, they really seal the deal. My birthday in next week........

Do you have history on this one?

Thanks Kathy and Geoff!
I have no history on the Excellency, unfortunately (bought it from an Ebay seller who "bought it during an estate sale" type of thing.)
Love the expansion band too;  once I saw this watch for sale, I too was blown away -- everything came together so well.
I had looked all over Ebay for bands like this for my Bulova 23 ("K" variant, shown below), but can never find them for a sensible price.  (There is one Ebay seller who must have bought out all of the NOS 1950's to 60's expansion bands in the country, but he charges $175 for these types of bracelets.  Too much for my blood!)

What a great looking combination, as you say it really makes the watch pop.
