Watch Description

This looks like a "Tuxedo" that I saw on this sight (1946/47), the year I am not sure of as there is no number on the movement. My mother and father were married in June 1956, and my mother told me that 'dad was still paying for it when we got married'. (He Graduated Wilmington High School in 1950 - maybe left over stock???)

The case is 14 karat white gold, as is the bracelet. The picture does not show the service engraving well. The first I could see was the 11-1-87, when I had it serviced after he passed away. The second is 11-12-68 and the third is 1-20-2023. Case SN 7556721. Bracelet clasp has Kreisler, USA - 14K is on the inside of the clasp.

Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your heirloom watch with us.  It is a gorgeous watch.  I would say it is from 1947 and maybe your father purchased it used or maybe it was still new but a few years old in the shop.  Like this one https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1947-tuxedo-6403

Yes I do believe it is a 1946 or 1947 Tuxedo based on the square date code on the movement and serial number beginning with 7.  14KT Gold on mesh bracelet is the Tuxedo.  Extremely rare to see it in white gold and I am not sure if we have a variant listed for white gold.   If he was still paying for it in 1956 then he financed this for many years.  A gorgeous watch.

1947 Bulova Tuxedo is a good match. It really does look like yellow gold.

Thank you for the comments!

I can attest to it being white gold. When I had the watch completely gone over in 1987, Janvier Jewlers sent it to Wilmington Watch in Wilmington Delaware. I was contacted by them with regard to having it Rodium treated/plated to protect the white gold. Which I did. After about 10 years of use, mostly on Sundays and special occasions, it ended up in my jewelry box do to the crystal separating. Late last year I took it to my local jeweler for service and crystal replacement. It took almost two months to get it back, but it is beautiful again and keeping time wonderfully. Their watch maker is in Indiana or Illinois (I can't remember) but they restore Rolex watches, so I figured it would be in good hands. They had to replace the balance spring and did an excellent job in my humble opinion.

Now that I know what model the watch is, makes things a little more complete. And, I bet my dad is happy knowing is it being well kept.
