1956 Bulova Navigator (model# 275)
I picked up this watch some time ago; it was in very bad condition and needed just about everything on it restored. It happens to be one of my favorite designs. The case is not white gold or stainless, but a base metal type of nickel plating with a chrome finish. It was worn through severely, and the only way to bring it back was to have it replated. I think the case turned out rather well. The case is not date-stamped, and inside is marked Bulova Watch Co - case made in France. The caseback is stainless steel and marked ☆ Water Proof ☆; is this a Star case? The luminous white patterned dial and the hands have been refinished and re-lumed as well. The original dial had a square design around each luminous marker dot; the refinished dial has circular dots. It also uses a blue center sweep second hand. The movement is dated L6, 17-jewel 11ACC, Swiss made. The plain crown is not marked with the typical Bulova. The watch came in the original Waterproof display case, and had the hang tag (Navigator | 275 WHT. | 17J Strap $39.75 ). The original leather band was missing, but I have added a NOS Bulova band, very close to original. It also came with the Guarantee paper, with the case s/n and date of 12/5/56 hand written.
Supporting Ad is dated 1956

Well done Ken, you continue to impress me. It's curious that the caseback isn't dated, I can't help wondering if somehow that was overlooked at the time of manufacturing. Clearly a Bulova case though. Dial is fantastic, IDC does nice work.
I'll go along with the Navigator ID as well.
