Your pocket watch would appear to be a 1956 Bulova Buckingham,but the crown guard looks to differ from the norm.

The watch does in fact look to be a Buckingham but agree it looks like a replaced crown and swivel handle.

Looking closely at the date code, I now think it might be "L5" instead of "L6." The code is in the "8 o'clock position" in the movement photograph.

Does changing the watch date to 1955 make a difference?

I would agree with Buckingham, with a possible replacement bow.

Is the case stamped L5 or L6?

Unfortunately, the case is less clear than the movement.

After tracking down a magnifying glass, I definitely think the movement is "L5."

My wife, however, votes for "L6."

Well, that happens sometimes, the lettering is not as sharp after many years.

Either year, the model name stayed the same. The Buckingham pocket watch was around for many years.

1956 Bulova Buckingham.

To answer your forum question, this watch would have come in a presentation case, virtually all Bulova sold did but some were left in the store and never taken home. THIS 1947 Buckingham shows the one used in the 1940's, it's possible that it was updated to a newer style in the 1950's
