Bulova Phantom 17j 10BUC ss 7715236 L4_L4 stem wind swiss  Case Measurements:  33.70Width mm w/o crown, and 5.85Depth mm w/o crystal  - Case Material:  stainless steel - Crystal out of watch:  Bulova 1126-E [GS PA444] 28.5 mm round  - Lugs:  18.50mm - Crown:  4.90 mm w/ male half-stem - Movement: Bulova 10BUC.   Inscriptions on movement:  Swiss; Seventeen 17 Jewels; Unadjusted; L4; BXW [import code]; 10BUC [in a box]; BULOVA WATCH CO; - Inside Back:   Two hand-scribed watchmaker’s marks - Back:  Inscription from top to clockwise:  BULOVA; Patent Pending; L4; Stainless Steel Case; Anti-Magnetic; 7715236; Water Proof; Shock Resistant; Note:  Bourg01 instructed me in how to open this type case, though I had to re-read it 3 times before it clicked.  I now have three with this configuration. The Back/Crystal combine as an ostensibly water-tight unit, that is then press fit into the Bezel. I am skeptical, as the crown is, as always, the weak link.  Particularly with this design, as the male/female stems get a bit loosie-goosie  as they age.  Care must be taken when re-assembling…there is a definite click when the back seats into the bezel.  If you don’t hear it, then it is likely the unit will fall out of the bezel when you remove from your wrist. This watch starts up with almost any motion and runs well.  The black paint is fading around the numerals, center, and vertical lines.

The bezel is fairly tightly friction fit to the case bottom half.  When you seperate them the move remains with the bottom half.  hope thta helps

Yes, that makes sense, and your pictures are really helpful too. I was just wondering if you had any practical advise on actually getting it open. Did you just use a case knife? Or a dedicated bezel remover or what? I have tried and tried on mine to no avail. Theres no lip so all my case knife has done is scratch the back :-/

Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated.
