Watch Description

From my research on this site, I first thought is was a BB.  However it does not seem to specifically match any BBs on the site and then I cam across the one example of a Launcelot.  While the one example on this site has a black dial, this most closely resembles the watch I have.  I am a bit nervous to open the back.  I had the watch restored by Rusty Tuggle owner of Antique Watch Company,  AS can be seen on the back it indicates 10K gold-filled, Bulova with the L4 date stamp.  Any help with ID would be appreciated.  I have included before and after pics.  Not sure before pics are very clear.

Trust your gut, it was correct the first time :-)

Looks like you have a nice example of a 1954 Bulova Beau Brummell "L"

1954-56 Bulova Beau Brummell watch

The black dial version came in white gold and was variant "M".

I think the biggest difference is jewel count. The apparent determining factor  between Beau Brummell "L" and Launcelot "A" is 21 Jewel vs. 17 Jewels.

Can you confirm movement? If we know what the jewel count is, it would make ID much easier.

Looking at a Launcelot here, the 1955 ad appears to show flat topped triangle diamond mounts as  seen on subject watch while Beau "L" shows arched tops. Is this a determining factor? I don't know. I doesn't seem to be as the single ID'd Launcelot in the database has a 17J movement (so it's not a Beau) and arched tops.

Thanks for all the comments! Much more detailed in your observations than I was! I did not notice the difference in the arched triangles on the Lancelot in the database compared to my watch. I will do my best to get the case back off and send pictures as well as serial number when I can. Hopefully this weekend!

I was able to get the back off of the watch.  It appears to be the same movement as the other Launcelot in the DB.  Interesting as I had not noticed a Beau Brummel with the triangle diamonds before.  Forgive my naivete, but how do I add pictures once I have completed the original submission?  Thanks again.

As detailed above, the Lancelot has a 17 jewelled movement and the fittings holding the diamonds are a different shape.

Can you confirm that your watch has a 21 or 17 jewelled movement?
