Watch Description

Medium sized watch guessing by wear thru on the lugs it's gold filled?Says "SWISS" under the 6:.Back says *WATER TITE*..that's a new one on me? It opens thru the crystal as near as I can tell so I'll have to take it to my watchmaker for further info.Any ideas as to what it is....What became of the old Bulova catalogs that were posted here ? that sure made it that much easier to ID them.

Looks like the Commodore

Stan, are you referring to the ads? Look under the INFORMATION tab at the top of the page for Vintage Bulova Ads.

** EDIT  09/15/2012 Removed erroneous case opening procedure. See following subsequent post's for correct  instructions. (DH)**

Agree with case ID, but more info is required on the movement for full three ticks.
I think the case is a little different to how Darhin describes. You have to remove the bezel ring from this model, then the crystal and expansion ring comes off, then you can wiggle the stem and movement to take apart the two part stem, then the movement will drop out.
The case style Darren's removal instructions describe did not come on the market until about 1960.

It does look like a Commadore but we do need to see the movement and the case back for a more realistic id.

O.K., no movement info required, Commodore three ticks.

Vintage Database ad Dated 1953 http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1953-…

'COMMODORE'

although the movement information field is not entered and the site 'required' views of which are not shown there are no conflicting ads showing the Watch to be any other model.

Stem separates, the bezel around the glass is removed which then allows the Dial / Movement assembly to 'flop' out.

It would still be good if we could get the movement details added please.

Agree it would be nice to have if possible. And although unlikely, if it housed a quartz movement held in place w/ some retainer clip, the case/dial would still be that of a Commodore.

1953 Commodore from me.

I have the same watch but haven't taken it apart because the bezel ring is in bad shape(anyone have one for sale?).The only thing that seems to differ from the ad is that it doen't have a RED sweep second hand.
