I am no longer trusting the old man that does my watch repairs. The damn second hand fell out at some point, and the movement itself keeps stopping with a full wind.

I managed to lose the second hand opening the case to place it back.

Stupid thing also stops for no reason ever hour or so, and you need to VIOLENTLY shake it to get it to start again. I think that's why the second hand is missing.

1952 Bulova Squadron A.  Sorry to hear about your watch repairman.  That is why i studied Youtube videos and learned to repair my own.   It might be something you might want to consider.

I don't have the tools, nor the time (or the money for that right). I really wish I could, but I just can't. Even then, the case doesn't fit right on the crown side, and has a gap. Any way to fix that?

Just confirming a 1952 Bulova Squadron "A" with an advert.

Here is a trick I learned many years ago that has saved me a few times now. Try and remember exactly where you were standing when you lost the hand. Then using something similar in size and nature drop it from the same spot and height...the important part is to watch where is falls and lands. Whenever I lose a hand, I try this method and its worked several times, even when I've scoured the floor for ages trying to find it. I simply do this trick and more often than not it will land within a few inches of the lost item.....Worth a go.
