Watch Description

In today's mail, I received the 1952 Academy Award II watch I bought on ebay last week. It is a great watch if you overlook that it appears to have been stored in a compost pile for several years. I cannot find the movement date code but I cannot find it on previously posted pictures of the 7AA movement either.

It's very dirty appearance aside it winds, runs, and is keeping time. I think it even has the correct band but I welcome feedback on that. I plan on posting after pictures once I get the face more presentable.

Cool watch, we don't see many of these. Movement date stamp is in lower left in your photo. " LI ", 1951. The band is a later period Spiedel "Twist-O-Flex" that wasn't being produced in 1952. Here is an ad showing the band as sold in 1952 (scissor style).

AA II

I wonder if the name and date scratched inside the case back is the original owner and the date he received the watch.

Thank you for the educational feedback! I thought the mark in the lower left corner was a "U"...but L! does make more sense.
