Hi baron4004, welcome to myBulova. I'd say you're spot on with the ID of "Watertite". I see a couple different variants in the ads (Watertite D, F & L). This case style shows up a couple times as having no variant and once as a "D".  It's a nice looking watch. I like the red sweep hand.

I'd vote to name it "Watertite" (no variant).

The Bulova Watertite 'F' is advertised as having a chrome case with stainless steel back where as the Water Tight 'D' (yes the spelling is different) is advertised as having a full stainless steel case.

From the wear on the subject watch I'd say its the Watertite 'F'.

The Watertite 'C' has a 15 J movement.

The Watertite 'M' seems to be an exact match of the 'F', but is advertised in 1953.

In later 1954/55 we have adverts showing this watch as the Bulova Magellan.

There are also a number of refferences IDing this as a Seabee when presented on a leather strap.

It also looks like it morphed in the first of the Sea Kings in 1955.

interesting to note the inner Caseback is stamped 51, not the familiar L1.

thanks to you for your input. i will stick to 'watertite' for now.

had a hell of a time fitting my old W german made fixoflex to it though. a lot of time with a file and pliers!!

so, works well and fits well
