Watch Description

In 1932 Bulova introduced its first ever line of calendar (date) watches that featured the date at the 3 o'clock position. Only a hand full of these 1932 Bulova Calendar watches have been found.

Here is Bulova's next adventure into a calendar watch.

It's dated L1 (1951) both on the case and 21 jewelled 10BMCD movement and only the second in the database.

I'm so glad I was able to purchase, restore and bring this old rare bird back to life.

It sits and wears beautifully on the wrist.

The sweep second hand is a temporary replacement whilst I source an original #65C 10BMCD GF 21

Not sure why I never went looking for this in the line books, I probably thought is was too early to appear in the ones we have.

I found this in the 1955-1957_LineBook_BAWD0127 linebook and it had a penned 1955 marking next to the entry which I'm not sure what it relates to as both examples we have are 1951 and 1952.

Anyway now we have the correct name. The Bulova Calendial

Both Calendar and Calendial are listed in the 1955+ pricelists under #31199. Calendial shows up in the 1955 linebook (as noted above), and Calendar can be seen in the 1957 linebook 132.

No ads for Calendial, but there is a 1952 ad for Calendar.

Either model name would work for me, but I would lean to Calendar.

Hmmm, I didn't think to expand my search, but does make sense and explain why the linebook has 1955 penned next to it.

OK I'll revert both examples back to 'Calendar'.

Nice work Ken.
