1951 ad in the pictures.

This is the Ruxton or Ruxton “A”. I have found nothing to distinguish one from another. However, the 1951 ad pictures the Ruxton “A” and describes it as having a 10k yellow rolled gold plated case. It goes on to say “WHITE GOLD same as above” but makes no mention of a model variant different from the “A”. When looking at all the Ruxton and Ruxton “A” models in the member registry, I found nothing to make the distinction between the two. It could be inferred from the 1951 ad that the white gold version is the Ruxton and the Ruxton “A” is the yellow gold. However, the identifications of the member watches do not bear that out.

The 1952 ad describes the Ruxton as having a 4 faceted crystal although the catalog image is too distorted to clearly see. The description also makes no mention of a variant. The 1955 ad clearly shows the 4 facets crystal and the description specifies it is the Ruxton “A”. While this does nothing to help sort out the Ruxton vs Ruxton “A” question, it does seem to suggest the 4 faceted crystal was a feature of the 1952 and later Ruxton watches and the 1951 and earlier watches did not have this distinctive crystal. It would seem to reason that the description would include such a distinctive feature should it be presented. It is my conclusion that the 1950 Ruxton did not have the 4 faceted crystal.
