Watch Description

My mom recently passed, and going through her personal effects, we came across this watch. We are just trying to learn more about this watch and if we should replace the crystal or just leave it as is for a keepsake.

Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your mother's watch with us.  A watch is a lovely heirloom to have and this one is very pretty as well.  I believe it is a Martha Washington like this one but in all white https://mybulova.com/watches/1950-martha-washington-6827

I am going to change the date to 1950, the L0 on the back of the case indicate the date as such.  As for the crystal it just depends on how scratched it is and if it bothers you.  They are easily replaced and really spruce up a watch so I personally recommend it.

Welcome and thank you for sharing a wonderful heirloom! I think Kathy is spot on with ID.

1950 Martha Washington.

There is a product out there called "NOVUS 3" (check ebay) for polishing scratches out of acrylic watch crystals. It is relatively inexpensive (much less than parts & labor at the jeweler) if you are motivated to do it yourself. Put a dab on the crystal and rub it vigorously with a cotton ball, keeping it moist with solution, and use pressure. It won't affect the watch case, but keep it away from the diamonds so you don't have to pick the dried residue out of the mounts (toothpick or toothbrush). Finish by buffing with a soft cloth. It takes patience and a little elbow grease, but works wonders. I have removed some pretty deep digs myself and made many watches much more presentable without crystal replacement.

1950 Martha Washington is a good ID. Be sure to have the watch professionally serviced if you plan to use it. Congrats on a nice keepsake.
