Watch Description

New Old Stock 1950 Bulova "His Excellency M", 21J 8AD movement with L0 date code, Satin white dial with Raised gold numbers and hands, 10K Gold Filled bezel and back, Factory Gold expansion band, 5X signed. It was priced at $75.00 back in 1950 and the tag numbers match the serial number on the case. This watch was part of a Jewler/watchmaker estate and had been dissambled and stored in a parts envelope for the past 60 years *Photo and Ad update 11-13-11 It came to me like a jigsaw puzzle in pieces, and thanks to our own member, Mike from Timemachines, it is now back to its New Old Stock form, looking and running like new! The watch box is not original, but will have to do until I find the correct one.

Ticker - this has got to be one of the coolest watch / story combos we have here. I think this is just plain fabulous. One piece art a time........

Thanks Geoff,

It was a lot of fun to see it come together.

Now to find that Lone Eagle #3853 sitting in some jewler/watchmaker's forgotten file cabinet in the same condition somewhere out there!

hard to agrue about that one being an "M".  Maybe it's case style for first letter? But based on ad above there's 8 "M" combinations....all easily told apart.

Well, except for the band/bracelet mismatch.   And the dial in the ad looks like it has black numbers rather than gold?   Are you going just by the case or everything else as well?

Same discussion we're having over the "NN".

In this case, we have a hang tag that may indicate those other factors don't matter.

Yea I was thinking case and hang tag, and missed the black vs gold numbers on dial. ...and this hang tag as well as the ad strengthens the argument for several "different" all "M"

Usually if a watch has Gold hands, it also has Gold markers, but you never know with Bulova...

The band is what came with this watch when I got it, and I have seen it on another watch that we have an ad for...don't remember which one right now, the only ad I can remember where the band makes a real difference is the Craftsman/Tuxedo.
