Watch Description

Fantastic white gold version of the 1949 Academy Award Model "T", sporting a 7AA, 21 Jewel movement. New crystal, just serviced, new seconds hand.  Thanks so much to Mike at Timemachines for the tuneups! I was going to sell this one but I think after seeing how great it looks, it'll be staying with ol' Plainsmen.  I had originally thought when I was purchasing it off auction it was natural yellow gold as seen in the pic below.  Not so much when I opened it up!  Seems to me that the white gold versions are fewer and farther in between than their natural gold bretheren.

Here's the before:

Thats a sharp one Plains, from the original picture it does look yellow, nothing wrong with white gold, it has a classy look all its own.

Plains, I thought AA didn't come out until 1950? No date stamp on the case back?

Uhmmm lemme take a look here Bob....

Hrmmm... very interesting Mr. Bob...... caseback is giving me a very distinct "L0".

So... a 7AA movement which didn't come out until 1950 stamped 1949... in a 1950 case.

Maybe one of the first 7AA's out at the tail end of 1949 that was used in it's 1950 Academy Award T?

A 1950 watch could certinly have a 49 movement IMO.

Oh I totally agree admin.... hence all the double and triple stamped movements out there.  Though i think Bob's deal was that the 7AA movement itself was thought to have not come out until 1950... so to have a 1949 stamp would be unusual.... though... makes sense in this watch.

I'm confusing me Bob.  heh... So.. are we thinking my 7AA movement is original to the watch then?  Or...

Sorta cool both yours and mine L0 cases have the 49 moves in them.

yes I think the movement is original to the case. We have AA's on this site 7AA, 7AK and 10BM movements. I think the watch was manufactured  in 1950.

Bob is correct, the Caseback should be stamped L0.
