Watch Description

Seems to be a manual wind.  was able to pop the back off, but the movement is attached to the back case and the dial came out with it all as one piece.  therefore can't see a movement code or serial.  no other markings other than the case serial and "bulova" inscription on the back.  Should date to the 50s-60s but I can't find any exact matches thus far.

This should be from 1948 based on the case serial number starting with 8 and not having an alpha-numeric date code on the caseback. The dial and movement together should lift out of the caseback. Having the movement information would help to determine the exact date.

As it is now, I'd say you may have a 1948 Pacemeker

I got the back to separate from the movement.  says "unadjusted 17 seventeen jewels" on the movement as well as either "BAD" or "8AD".  "49" is stamped near a screw.  "swiss" and possibly "BXW" (hard to make this one out)

inside the caseback is:  BULOVA, some text I can't read before "plate bezel" along with "NEW YORK" and "101E" written by hand sort've scratched into it.

We may date it to 1949 based on the movement being from that year, based on the "49" stamp. Movement model would be the 17-jewel 8AD, and the BXW is a Swiss import code to the US. Between the BULOVA and NEW YORK is: 10K Rolled Gold Plate Bezel, Stainless Steel Back

I have a photo of the movement but couldn't figure out how to add it now

also I incorrectly put "ladies" - it looks to be mens

Nice ad pickup. The release of this watch looked to coincide with the release of the new Hudson Pacemaker automobile in 1948.

1948 Bulova Pacemaker it is for me....and a first for the database!!

Hello kleffman, welcome to myBulova. I also think it's a Pacemaker mode. We don't get many first time models, congratulations on your find.

(PS - per Ken's note I updated the year to 1949)
