Bobbee IMO there is a little "confusion" in that record linked above.

Gents,

I have yet to see any 'HIS EXCELLENCY' with a Stainless Steel caseback. - ad typo.

A8 - L3 is a Five Year span - the subject Watch is 'non confroming'.

Fifth-  Have we seen this case/dial combo w/ stainless back for 1948 thru say 1951?   I'm asking about a watch- not an ad. Thanks

What's so strange about a new movement? Although I agree, non-con. with the stones, but it is a HE and not a AA.

'UNKNOWN' - non conforming.

Another of these with this dial on a famous auction site, so not non-conforming, just unknown.

It's possibly just a diamond dial variant of one of the proposed models, and we don't or may never have an actual ad indicating this variant.  Relative price differences between model variants in the model price lists are consistent w/ a diamond dial variant possibility for His Excellency model.

I vote His Excellency LL, I care not about the the 5 year span, it's a replacement movement. In 1948, this watch was sold as an HE ** LL (egad, that was close!)
