Watch Description

I believe this is a 1948 based on the case serial, with a 1947 7AK movement. I also believe its a rose version. It is a bit hard to tell, not the bold rose that i have seen on others. In some lights it looks yellow, in some it looks rose. In my photos it looks yellow, but in the last picture you can see it has a very different hue than the the yellow gold bracelet that it was found on. The dial is a bit of a rarity as well i believe, as i was only able to find one other example online of this model with this dial design and it was a new condition watch that was most assuredly Rose.  The case model is i believe a His Excellency SS. But i was unable to find an advert that displayed this particular dial. This was my grandfathers watch. my mother kept it, passed it to my older brother, he has now given it to me.

if the gold is rose then is "TT" variant if yellow then "SS"

my impression is "TT"

The SS/TT use a curved lug. This example has lugs that are straight. Case is similar to this one, but the dial is different.

Before becoming the His Excellency in 1947, this would have been the Director, as seen in this '46 ad.

His Excellency, variant unknown

The more I look at this watch, the more I'm unsure what is it. The lugs (curved or straight) don't line up with the inner bezel like the SS/TT do and the dial font is something totally new/different.

For now I'm also suggesting that it is part of the His Excellency group.

It's got me pretty well stumped too. It seems like every time I seem to have it nailed something pops up to make me reconsider. In a google search I did find one other example of the dial. I will post if I can find it again.

Doing a google search, here is the only other example i can find of this dial. Interestingly enough it appears to be on the exact same watch as mine. It was labeled as a '47 although the case number starts with an 8 as does mine. Perhaps this was a dial used on some of the 47 movement which were used in some 48 cases??

Agreed, His Excellency - no variant for now.

His Excellency no Variant.   I cant recall seeing the slanted font on a Bulova before.
