His Excellency; s/n indicates it's a 1948. Ad Below is dated 1948. Ad describes as gilt numbers. Are the numbers on subject watch black or gold?

Neetstuf I think you nailed it.  This came in a lot of Bulova watches and movements I purchased off of ebay.  In it were serveral 7AK movements.  I found a 1948 7AK that is a dead match to the ad.  Yellow gold applied markers.  I suspect the movement was swapped by the previous owner at some point.   I have since reunited the two and believe you can now classify this as a 1948 His Excellency.  Thank you for your help on this one.  Nothing gives me greater pleasure than "restoring" this old timer to its proper condition!

Nice! Now we are getting someplace! Gilt markers and gilt stick hands on a white face. My vote for the properly reunited case and movement based on ads is 1948 His Excellency "SS"
