Watch Description

This one has me stumped.  I originally thought this might be a 1946 American Clipper but this one has engraved left and right side bezel.  Note it is not engraved between the lugs.    It is a 10AK 17J movement with a square date code.  10Kt Yellow rolled gold plate case with stainless case back.

Sorry Jim, I completely missed this one all week. It certainly would be nice if we had a better version of that advert. We have one similar American Clipper in the dB but it does not have the engraving. I'm not finding a match either

[/quote] yeah I've been trying to find the ad in a clearer version but not luck.  It appears someone change this to a 1947 from a 1946.  Was it based on the serial number because It clearly had square Date code.

FWIW there is a watch exactly like this on the watchophilia site.  Its ID'd as an American Clipper there but the same ad without the engraving is used to justify it.

Another view of the 1946 American Clipper from another ad.  Looks like no engraving on this one too.

I'm on the fence with this one. It may be an Amer.  Clipper variant or it could have a different name based on engraving. I would go with

1946 American Clipper - tentative for now, pending a better ad hopefully showing the model w/ engraving.

Tied with two panel members voting Unknown and two voting (one of those tentative) American Clipper.

I'm tentative American Clipper. Makes more sense that the engraved case was just another variant.
