Any help in identifying this watch by model and year would be apreciated greatly !!!  Watch runs well but needs cleaning and dial has spotting, I may try and find an original replacement as I dont like restored vintage stuff as much as near original as possible. Any info would be great !!

I am not a watch collector, just bought this, as I have just gained an intertest in these very cool vintage watches, and I would much rather wear this than my Seiko...

I am going blind looking at the advertisements from Bulova trying to find this, was praying someone here might know more about it.

WOW I am impressed lol Thank you Wayne, I have found nothing online about the 8ae 21j movement, is this a rare watch? I just picked it up for about $50,do not want to sell it but would getting the face restored hurt its value a lot or no? Should it have a signed crown as well? Or better yet is there somewhere I can go online and answer these questions myself?
Again Thank You !!!

Shooter...as far as Bulova info, this site is it! Sad but true....joking...welcome.

I'd say that this model didn't have a signed crown and that yours looks pretty authentic and obviously shows us that there were more than one variety (black dial).

Thats good news !!! Any ideas where I can look for a replacement face? I am not sure how to even begin ie where would I look to find a part number or size? And no jokes, so far ass I have seen , you guys are pretty damn kowledgeable and more than friendly !!! Good job on this site!!! I expected a little snobishnes ( have gotten that elsewhere when trying to research things ) but not here !!!!!

I am of high hopes that your members wont buy up every Bulova that I see, I do believe I have found a new passion !!

One more question...I am very interested in learning to service these movements, am ordering the Bulova watchmakers cd's and probably the chicago ones as well but my problem is this..who makes GOOD quality jewelers screwdrivers that wont break the bank? (litterally thousands on line)

International Dial Co or Kirk Dial for Dial refinishing.

Looks like the Hour and Minute Hands are mis-matched and needs corrected, no big deal.

'Alpha' style would be correct with the 'Index' style sub-Seconds Hand which is a 21J movement trait.
