Need help identifying.  I have not been able to open it up yet.  Watch is stamped "Bulova" "14K Gold Filled".  Also engraved is "Bob to Irene" "12-25-44".  Serial No. on back of case is 405817.  Thanks!

HI Don

Based on style/design, the first digit of the case serial number, and the dedication date on back this watch is most likely from the 1940's.  The first digit case serial number (4), within this time period, is a good indicator of the year of case production.  The leading digit 4 would suggest 1944 production date.  If you search the vintage ads we have on site, starting a couple years before through a couple years after this date, we may have something "close".  Try here:  http://www.mybulova.com/vintage-bulova-watch-ads

You may also want to look through some of the watches on site for the same time period.  You can browse/search watches by the same year range, and see if there are other "close" examples in the datebase which may have useful information and discussions on model ID'ing.  Check here: http://www.mybulova.com/search-bulova-watches

Hope this helps...

Good job JimDon. After 11 1/2 years it finally has a name. Expensive little watch, wasn't it.

I'm a bit hesitant on this as Amelia, if only the advert was a bit clearer.....It does look close though.
