This is what appears to be a 1943 Blackhawk. It has a + date code on th3 10BA center second 17J movement. The dials is black with a white center and lumed hour markers and gold hands with a blued seconds hand. This is the missing 3,6,9,12 hour marker variety. The case is a yellow gold. The watch is personalized with engraving from "12/25/1944 To Cliff From Mother". I was so happy to find this as it is on my top 5 Bulova list of the non-complication models and I had been looking for one for a long time. . The watch was tarnished black and not running. I was able to service and polish it and it is running and looking great.

Very nice.
Bulova Black Hawk.
I think I'm inclined to date it by the case serial number as 1944.
I think you are right with the date of 1944 . The movement does have a fairly large but light outline of a circle next to the cross date code . I suspect it was a date code added in 1944 to the 1943 movement when the watch was sold. That lines up with the Christmas 1944 engraving on the back .

Wonderful you were able to find one Jim! It is a beauty, well done.
1944 Bulova Black Hawk
Thank you! Here is a photo of the date codes. This confirms a 1944 dual date code cross with added circle. Someone will need to update the model from a 1943 to a 1944. Thanks everyone for your comments.
