What a nice package with the case and receipt!  The movement date symbol is most likely an X that wasn't quite struck deep enough and would be for 1943.  A very nice Senator.  Interesting that they purchased a bracelet band at the time of purchase.  Might be that they bought it on a leather band and bought a bracelet to change out.

1943 Bulova Senator (probably "A" from the price point but will see what everyone thinks)

Nice watch Mike-Senator is a good match. I'm going without a variant on this one, not so sure on the "A" suggestion, I'd like to see more evidence that we have.

This looks to be the Senator 'E' based on the yellow gold case, dial design, and this particular band.

Sold price does not match any ads; looks to have been on sale!

1943 Senator 'E.'

Even on sale, with taxes added, this is over $700 in today's money. Now, while I don't think that's overly expensive for a Swiss watch, I see a lot of customers daily who balk at anything over $100. Our perceptions in general, have changed with the ready availability of cheap products that don't last.

I recently had a conversation with a customer who was outraged when he went to buy a Breitling (The store also sold Ulysse Nardin, who do the same thing I am about to describe) and was charged separately for the bracelet, to the tune of another $1200 or so.

It is interesting to see via the above bill of sale that they were doing this so many years ago.

Kind of like, "This is the new  car you have selected, did you want wheels with it?"
