Bulova 1942 Goddess of Time

Watch Description

I have no idea of the year/model/etc. the case does have 5772655 stamped on it, also says 10K rolled gold plate bulova. Each link has "PROSPECT" engraved and one has "HONG KONG" engraved. I am afraid to try and pry open the case to find the year stamp because I don't have the correct tools. I am open to any advice. (I had to pick a date to create this so I just chose 1950, I have NO idea of the actual year)

All Bulova's from 1950 on will have a letter and a number indicating the year stamped on the back of the case, usually near where it is stamped Bulova.

Example, If it was a 1950 model it would have LO, 1951 would be L1, if it were 1962 it would have M2.

There are a few watches that were stamped on the case back before 1950, and they were usually 1948 & 49 models, and could have a A8 or A9, or just 48 & 49 stamped on them.

If you look at the case back, you will see a small tab on the edge on the back near the center of the lug that the band hooks to, using a dull butter knife, hook it underneath the tab and slowly twist it up against the tab using the lug for leverage. It should seperate with the movement still in the case back, then slowly pull the movement out and record all of the info on the movement.

The date code will be a symbol if it is pre 1947. The information tab at the top of the page will have the date code chart.

Ladies watches are small so you might need a magnifying glass to see it.

If you can, take a picture of it, but use the Macro setting on your camera for close ups.

The "Goddess of Time" is a close match, this is from a 1943 ad,

this is the "L" model, so yours could be some other letter with the Black dial.

Admin,

The Goddess of Time "B" has no engraving along the sides, and from the picture this watch does not look Rose Gold in color.

Its a Goddess of Time model but not the "B" or the "L"

thanks both of you for helping me try to identify this watch. I will try to open the case, but may decide instead to take it to someone who knows what they're doing. I don't fair well with taking things apart, sometimes can't get it back together correctly!

That is a good idea if your not comfortable with it, be sure to have your jewler log all info off of the movement, and  let us know so we can try to make a positive ID on this model.

You may want to print a copy of the date codes and what to look for. Give it to whomever you have work on it so they will know what to look for.

The unclear pic helps form my opinion.  We delete the record?  I've sent PM to see if we can get better pics.

EDIT:  Or maybe we remove the "accidental" variant letter from the base model ID?
