Your bezel has great definition on the engraving. My 1936 Clipper needs to be restored after looking at yours.

I would leave this Watch as an 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' Greg, the bracelet is possibly the variant on this one?

I don't see any other difference.

It looks like the "American Clipper" does not have any engraving on the bezel and the American Clipper "F" does according to the ads

Am I wrong??

'B' is the White Dial with engraved Bezel. 'C' and 'D' are the Black dialed versions. I think variant 'F' is simply adding a bracelet (?)

I could not find a "B" ad to confirm it, maybe "F" is more of a year thing?

American Clipper no engraving 1938/39 (has both a cresent moon and shield date mark)

Above would be 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' A variant. B variant would be the engraved bezel model (both sold on a leather strap).

F variant adds the matching bracelet to the engraved version as shown in the ad - I would guess E adds a bracelet to the non engraved version (non engraved bracelet).

'AMERICAN CLIPPER' (F)

I have yet to see a variant based on Year of production Greg.

How did we arrive at an American Clipper "A" or"B" as an ID? I haven't been able to find any ad's showing one. I do find ad's showing the "American Clipper" and the "C" & "F" models.

Did I miss one??

If this style engraved Clipper was only releasd as the American Clipper "F", then F it is IMO.

Firth I certainly take your point that the "F" version may have had the matching braclet. Do we know at this stage if there is another white dial Clipper with the same engraving without the matching band?

Bulova named variants in alphabetical order.

(A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F). and the database currently lists (A) (B) (C) and (F)

The plain bezel version of this Watch is shown in an ad as 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' and appears on a Leather strap. (A) ?

(B) the logical choice for an engraved White dial version on the same leather strap.

(C) Black dialed non-engraved bezel on leather

(D) Black dialed engraved bezel on leather

(E) Plain bezel White dial on a matching bracelet

(F) shows the engraved Bezel with White Dial on a matching bracelet.

G and H variants are also possible by adding bracelets to the Black dialed varieties.
