Watch Description

I'm trying to identify this watch I recently purchased. I  haven't received it yet but should this week. I noticed 2 stamps on the movement a square and a triangle? I don't know much about this yet or what model I have here hoping you all can  help me. I'm taking a guess on the year  1936? by the serial number on the back of the case.   Looking forward to seeing what your thoughts are!

Welcome to mybulova and thanks for sharing. This is one we seldom see, and have previously ID'ed it as an engraved version of the Oakley. During the early to mid 1930's, it wasn't uncommon for there to be unengraved as well as engraved case watches called by the same name with no variant letter or advertising the fact. We have one like yours in the database as seen here.

I'm going to follow suit and say it's a

1936 Bulova Oakley

Yea looks just like the Oakley in the add minus the sub second hand at the six o'clock position. Wonder if they offered variants with or without? Very interesting. I can't wait to get it thus week

I think you may be on to something, Stephen. I was so focused on the case and face indices, I completely missed the sub-second dial discrepancy.

Definitely not Oakley. I'd have to say no to Kirkwood as well, unless we find an advert showing engraving. 1936 Bulova Unknown

Based on multiple instances of watches from this period surfacing in both engraved and unengraved, with ads only depicting one or the other I'm inclined to tag this one a Kirkwood tentative. Face without seconds subdial, movement jewels and case shape are a match, as is the date on the ad Stephen found. Case is pretty distinctive with the recessed crown and lug transition. For me, unless a conflicting ad surfaces
