Watch Description

This one has me pretty excited. As received with the exception of a polishing of crystal. One end of the back is marked Bulova 10K Rolled Gold Plate. Serial number on opposite end of the single hinged case. As first, I thought the dial had been replaced, as it doesn't match ads; however, by looking at others in the database perhaps not. It seems that this dial was interchangeable with the "straight leg 7" style. I find this dial, as well as the one in ads in the Trident. In Tridents currently in the Db; 2 of 5 sport this dial and the other 3 match both LE and Trident ads.The single example of Chancellor uses the same hooked leg 7 dial.

Watch is in excellent condition and looks like it didn't have much wrist time. No apparent plating wear and perfectly round lug pin holes. Note the nice crisp center groove on the crown. Face very clean with some "measles". Engraved ladder band is in the same excellent condition and has been with the watch a long time. It's a perfect fit on my wrist without expanding the clasp. Currently running and keeping time.

It looks like a match to the Lone Eagle like others we have in the database.

Wow, we really discussed this at length. I believe the consensus was the engraving indicate LE, non engraved are ID'd as Trident (Sweepstakes Watch). 1934 Bulova Lone Eagle

That was and still is the consensus.

However I did put forth this new advert dated 1933 showing what looks to be a match with an ID of "Bernard".

The advert is dated December 17, 1933 and appearing in the Evening Star on Page B-6.

Lovely "Lone Eagle" I would suggest a Crystal Replacement.

Tinted Crystals in the day were ugly and so be it today.
