Ok, First conjecture was possibly a Lone Eagle, then possible am Ambassador now we are strongly in the Unknown camp.  Well eventually...

After looking at Ambassador models for the general era, I am thinking this is one.  Just haven't seen any with the two tone case before.

I've just had  a very close look at my Ambassador and compared it to this watch. Very sorry to add confusion but I believe that I'm way off base now. Both watches are very different

Well, an identical model sold on e-bay onthe 8th.  So this was not a one off by a jeweler.

looks like the extended lugs were/are actually part of the original bracelet which would bring the Case design a LOT closer to the LE III's.

so the crystal specs don't help me w/ this one...  16.51 x 25.12  Looks like the band in the first pic has a yellow gold link...Cool band, or at least nice to see the cross member of the first link matching of the yellow gold accents on bezel.

Have you tried removing the lugs to see if they are actually part of the original band. My Ambassador has hidden lugs and takes a very small band width.
