Watch Description

Hi all - just snapped this on the bay. not sure but I think it might be a 1921 Justine,  I can't quite make out the movement details as yet but I do think it is all Bulova.  Merc found the ad for me me and it certainly looks the part. Once I get my hands on it I will ad further details. According to the seller its running fine. I think you will agree those emeralds do look good I have updated the info and its certainly looks more like a Justine see jewel count and movement

1931, not 21.

The advert is also 1931.

Justine, great catch.

Here's my concerns.  We have several ads for period similar watches stating count of "emeralds" or "sapphires", and those ads state numbers of semi-precious stones which are on bezel, not including any stones on the band.  One example is the 1930 Minerva ad:

If you look at the full ad from which the snippet above comes, you'll see there are several other examples where there are stones on the bands in the ad graphics, however if the descriptions mention number of stones, it never includes stones on bands.

There are several other first party Bulova generated/published ads which follow this pattern.

The ad used for Justine looks to be second or third party.  Perhaps the company running the Justine ad included the stones on the band, but I sure can't tell from the graphic if there's 4 or 6 stones on the bezel- its too grainy.

I think we jumped the gun on this ID, so I'm giving one tick for unconfirmed as my rating.  We are still unsure of the subject watch jewel count at present too.  It could be 15 jewels?  I can't see if the center wheel has a jewel or not.

W S.

See updated data the jewel count and movement make it more than likely to be a Justine

Thanks George.  I'm still wondering about the wording of ad saying six emeralds vs yours having 4 emeralds on bezel.

Edti:  For the Justine ad- what is source of ad?  On our site or Lisa's or???  I'm thinking if there's other Bulova watches in the full ad, it may be revealing.

The ad was supplied by Alan  (Merc). Not sure where he sourced it from
