Watch Description

This little girl followed me home from a flea market tody. I thought it was a mans, but looked it up and to my suprize it is a Ladies Sport Model "Magnolia" with leather strap and radium dial. I believe the strap is original, as the stiching is the same as the ad, and it is marked in an oval, " sweatproof calf skin" .

I hope you agree and enjoy it as I do. Unfortunatly it is not running.

Advert is from 1926.  Same watch with a different name.   There's also a different Suzanne with the same name.

Ah gotta love Bulova. Is it plausable then to say that Bulova changed the rectangle model Suzanne above  to the Magnolia in 1927 and repackaged the 1926 Suzanne into the bottom case in 1927 thus leaving the Magnolia rectangle to take its place?

A very common Bulova practice.

Jay, what year is your ad from, 1926?

Bulova Magnolia watch If one look close at the picture I posted, one can see a magnolia on the out side edge at the three and nine o'clock positions.

'SUZANNE' $40

'MAGNOLIA' $50

The Case dimensions of the Suzanne appear longer with slightly different positioning of the Dial numerals(?) maybe not lol...neither of which match 100% with the Dial showing on the Watch in question.

*note there is no mention of Case composition in the 'MAGNOLIA' ad. and the Dial shading within the artists rendition also appears to be showing it to have a Silver or Butler finish.

14k Gold Filled Case?

If I had to guess, which I will, I would say it's the 'SUZANNE'

Doing a image match overlay, both the Suzanne and Magnolia drawing match up perfectly in dimensions for the case, dial and hands so I don't think we can say that they were different.

Once agin does it not make sense that Bulova simply released a newer model of the Suzanne in 1926/27. We see this time and time again with Bulova.

and re-released it as the Magnolia, possible due to this http://www.archive.org/details/RayStaritaOrch-Magnolia1927.

1926 Bulova Suzanne and the 1927 Bulova Magnolia

Show Boat played in New York in 1927 and features a character named Magnolia

From the Square date symbol and the cathederal hands I'd put this as a mid to late 1927 release watch thus making it a Magnolia.

I forgot to thank all of you that did research on this watch to try to figure out exactly what model it is. I have decieded to leave it "Magnolia" for the reasons mybulova_admin has stated.

Once again,

Thank you all!
