How was 1922 established? Going by the case serial number could it not be 1921?

Lady Maxim yes, 1922...maybe? I'd date it by the serial number on the case....1921.

When did we established that the 'Shield' was first used in 1922?

We have come to the conclusion that case serial numbers starting with '11' date to 1921.

we have records showing that 'American Standard' was first used 1 August 1918 and that the American Standard Watch Case Company was founded 1920.

What I'm seeing so far with the records I've compiled is that:

1920-21

Globe with case serial number starting with '10' or '11'

1921-23

Shield with case serial number starting with '10', '11', '12' or '13'
