Bulova Mat Advertising c1955 SCUBA Bob

Submitted by William Smith on June 2, 2012 - 3:15pm

Thanks to brtime (Bruce Shawkey) for making several Bulova Mat Advertising materials available to our Bulova community.  NOVA (Lisa) and I made arrangements with Bruce to have these documents scanned, and we are in the process of determining tentative dates for some of the ads which are not specifically dated.  These ads were a subset of the source materials Mr.

Watch Description

Unknown (at least to me) model from 1965. Orig. and crown and I believe the original half-n-half band and presentation box. Lovely textured dial. Came out of an estate, so I'm fairly certain this has been unmolested and is not a fraken-bully. One watchmaker's repair mark on the inside back. Any help would be appreciated.

1926 10A Watch Movement Serial Number

Submitted by DreamWeaver on June 1, 2012 - 1:23pm

What can anyone tell me of a watch movement from a June 10, 1924 Patent-dated cut-corner case (probably a Conquerer) that reads, "Bulova Watch Co USA 10A 17 Jewels USA" and Serial Number "185292" ? I see a lot of posts dealing with early serial numbers and I thought someone might know what year the movement might be and whether it is from a Conquerer case or a Lone Eagle case. The case is stamped Serial Number 6417962. Again...there are some members who know more about these numbers then I do.

Watch Description

Added "F" designation as this watch follows all criteria in adverts, page 8, image 19. Will update with more pics and info when watch arrives. In need of a lot of work to case, but watch is running. 1 fifth second gradations to dial register. Radium numbers and hands, red seconds hand.

EDIT:- Caseback will not come off, so looked further and the bezel is removable, as in pics. Could not take out stem as should come out in two parts, male and female, but won't. After letting mvmnt. drop partially out, I could see inside for info, and caseback reads, "BULOVA WATCH CO. SWISS, 53,   246166."  L3 on mvmnt. BXW, 10 BUC, 17 jewels. Running smoothly and keeping very good time. Length lug tip to lug tip is 37mm. Width minus crown is 30mm. lug gape is 16mm.

EDIT:- Name change to "Seabee" as watch is on leather strap, as per 1953 ad.

Lo Minute Man?

Submitted by rpongon on May 31, 2012 - 6:33pm

This Lo 17J looks somewhat(?) like a Minuteman from what I've seen in the ads but it has a single step(?) or trim line and the stem post is exposed from the front.  I'll try to leave more pictures later if it isn't something obvious or to be added to the photo library.

Thanks

In the not too distant past the boards were presented with a Watch - the Bulova 'PATRIOT'. A relatively new piece supposidly produced by Bulova with the proceeds of any Sales to benefit the Veterans of the Iraq War.

According to Bulova they have no knowledge of the Watches existance and a search has found no results other than the mentions found here at MyBulova and a short discussion at the NAWCC site.

1970 11ANACB Hands

Does anyone know the interchangeability of the 11ANACB (and/or 11AOACB since they are basically the same movement) HANDS? I have tons of hands but nothing to tell me what they used on the 11ANACB and I have no watch hands with 11ANACB....no infor for 1970's watches unfortunately. Does anyone have an idea from a late-issue catalog? Thanks! DW
