Bulova Clock 1931(?)

Submitted by Time Bandit on June 6, 2012 - 3:40pm

Picked this "Bad Boy" up a while back from a old watchmakers/jewelrs estate who was reportedly a Bulova Employee back in the day. After leaving Bulova, he opened a Jewelry store in Collierville Tn.

Weighs a ton, case is metal, painted to look like wood. The four light blocks surrounding the outer perimeter are actually blocks of wood.

Your not off topic at all. Anyone who's ever bought a Bulova jeweller's clock has shown it off in a forum post. This deserves to be seen, IT"S AWESOME!  I'd change the forum title to "Bulova Clock - Your going to love it." I know I sure do. :(  wish it were in my shop.

William just pointed me in the direction of a current EBay auction by PM just to show me that the seller has a Bulova Timeline with the pic of this clock half way down in his listing. I've seen the timeline somewhere, but can't remember exactly where?

It's dated to 1931

Specs. are 14.75in X 14.75in, almost 3in thick and weighs about 8 pounds.

Dial, numerals and chapter ring(?) are all 1 piece copper, center section is "hammered".

If it was indeed a 1931, it was well taken care of, runs perfectly and hasn't lost 1 min. in the month I've had it plugged in.

Now if I can only figure a way to put a strap on it I'll be all set...

The French Bulova and English Bulova sites have it in their timelines in 1931...but like you say... who knows what that means.  The picture is a little better in the English timeline version.

Edit:  The French and English versions have the same picture- as I thought they would.  It was just the way the French pic was cropped.  So, the Bulova site, by associating this picture with the comment "makes the world's first electric clocks...." could lead on to believe this picture is one of those "early train station clocks", however with Bulova's timeline...who knows....
