Identify Ladies 18k Bulova with diamonds?

Submitted by preciousrosie on March 14, 2012 - 2:52pm

Please help me identify this Ladies Bulova. Front has 12 diamonds: 5 each side, one above 12 and one below 6. Inside case reads: PLAT TOP 18K. 17J. Serial # (?) 93729. Also 6R. Any help would be appreciated!

Princine variation? Diamond encrusted bezel and 17j movement. Can't make out the date symbol. There's no 6R in the movement db nor on ranfft's site.

Would be a high end piece for its Day. 'PLAT TOP' indicates a Platinum Bezel and the Diamonds will almost positively be genuine.

Check the Database ads 1924 - 1928 as there are some Ladies Diamond / Platinum models shown there.

Very nice!

Just noticed that the case back isn't signed.

A 6R is an Aurore-Villeret calibre 11. Bulova used these quite a bit, and FHF modeled some after these, which causes some confusion.

Not even a Bulova or A.S. case, looks like a Jeweler Custom, wonder if PLAT. TOP means the bezel is Platinum & the back is 18K?? or is that the casemaker name..

Thanks for all of the information. I see now why despite looking over the past 10 years on and off and  for hours this past week,  I was unable to find this watch anywhere.

Some questions:
Since the case is not marked, is there any source that I could reference to help with identification?

What is FHF?

What is A.S.?

Any suggestions on where to research non-Bulova high end watches? Or recommendation of some one in NJ/NY to contact who might be of help?

Thanks Again~

The engraving patterns on the sides of the Case and Bezel certainly have Bulova characteristics and the 1923 - 1 database ad refers to model # 7805 as a having an '18K Case with Platinum top'.

This is a Bulova.

IMO.

preciousrosie,

Is there a serial number stamped inside the Caseback?

It looks like there could be somethign over the perlage (behind the black jewelers ink) on inside case back photo.

Thanks FifthAve. I dont see a number stamped inside the case back. Only 18K Plat-Top. There are some etched numbers / letters. Hard to read with the magnification I have. Would hand etched info be helpful- or only stamped?

Thanks for the ad- will check it out.

On another note- every time I try to login in, it says I am not recognized and I need to ask for a new password. Any idea how to fix that?

Thanks ~

No help on password, but the hand etched stuff on inside case back isn't much hlep. I was thinking stamped stuff, whether a nice machine stamp like the other markings, or even a hand stamped number or stamping in diff font or the likes. Thanks now we know there's not a SN inside case back.
